INTRODUCTION and RECOGNITION This is a combination of 2 successful activities used by RC Sanibel-Captiva, District 6960 TIME required per 10 people may be 2 to 3 minutes. (40 people, 8 to 12 minutes) GOALS maximize Fun and Dollars, minimize Time Give EVERYONE attending, members visitors guests, an opportunity to speak. See and hear EVERYONE attending pronounce their own names, club name, and classification. Increase knowledge of details about EVERYONE attending. SUGGESTED PROCEDURE SAA (Sergeant-at-Arms) begins from any end or side of room. SAA uses cordless microphone, like an interviewer, so everyone can hear the speaker. At each table, SAA asks each person at table, members, visitors, guests, "Please stand, tell us your first and last names, club name and classification" While the person is standing, the SAA says "(name) do you have something to SHARE today?" Before moving to next person, SAA reminds each person of their special days, Induction, Anniversary, Birthday, Absent without make-up, Media publicity, Clothes, etc. Knowing they will be asked, members and visitors may prepare something to say before attending the meeting. We may learn more about each other as weeks pass and each person has the opportunity to speak. Members may donate whatever they are comfortable with, or nothing. SAA requests each speaker give dollars to a Money Assistant based on the information and/or time. Dollars only for information shared after introduction. SAA reminds speakers when to add more dollars for more time. SAA moves to next person at table while Money Assistant collects dollars and gives change. SAA is finished after visiting all tables. When the SAA is absent, this routine could be led by any member present since members and visitors supply their own information. By doing this routine early in the meeting, it could be followed by club announcements, committee reports, and program speaker. |
